The healthcare market has very strong local characteristics, in terms of how the hospital system works and how healthcare is paid for and reimbursed. Before entering a new country, therefore, its characteristics must be thoroughly understood.

Is it easier to expand abroad these days?

The greater availability of information makes it easier to make a decision. Before, if you wanted to know what was happening in the healthcare sector abroad, it was difficult. The internet has, of course, changed the landscape. The accessibility of information has encouraged foreign companies to expand into France and vice versa.

Which countries are the ones to look out for in the healthcare sector?

Sweden! What is happening at the moment in Sweden’s hospitals reminds me of the changes undergone by the automotive industry in the 1980s: a profound transformation in the way in which a value proposition is delivered to the beneficiary.
