As a professional shareholder, we are closely involved with managers and help them build world-class companies.

An experienced team

In 40 years, our team has proved its ability to work through different economic cycles, showing significant reactivity. In addition to its knowledge of the economic circles and its network of relations, it has a deep experience in a wide range of transactions (M&A, LBO, build-up, PtoP, IPO, restructuring, …).

A company-developer culture

Our priority is the company’s long-term growth, which is ensured by pushing all the value-creation levers: internal growth, acquisitions, improvement of the economic model to make it more sustainable, international expansion,… When we sell a company, its value depends on the perspectives for development that can be offered to future shareholders.

Significant financial resources

We are not limited in terms of size of transactions we carry-out and we can help our portfolio-companies finance the development opportunities available to them. Some investors in our funds may co-invest together with us, as well as Apax Partners LLP (i.e. our joint investment in Capio, the leading European operator of private hospitals).

Sector-based specialists

We have in-depth knowledge of each sector and its challenges on a worldwide scale, owing to specific teams of professionals in-house, and through Apax partners LLP’s network of sector-based specialists. As a sector-based specialist and multi-stage investor, we have a deep knowledge of the whole value-creation chain in each sector and we have demonstrated our ability to carry-out LBOs in the high-technology sectors.

Functional support

The Apax teams provide sector expertise, as well as financial and human support.

An origination department

We have a business development team which works in close collaboration with the sector-based teams so as to identify investment opportunities and to ensure that contacts with intermediaries such as merchant banks, audit firms and consultants are both established and maintained.

A high-performance governance model

Our model is based on the alignment of financial interests between the shareholders and managers, and on the complementarity between the management team, responsible for the company’s day-to-day management, and our role as a professional shareholder, having sufficient hindsight and experience to make suggestions and to establish growth opportunities for the company.
