A major private equity player
Apax Partners was created in 1972 in Europe and in the United States by Maurice Tchenio (FR) and Ronald Cohen (UK), who joined forces with Alan Patricof (US) in 1976.
In France, Apax Partners was one of the private equity pioneers: we created the first French private equity vehicle called FCPR (Fonds Commun de Placement à Risque), and we are one of the founder-members of the AFIC (The French Private Equity Association).
An independent management company
Apax Partners is a French management company, regulated by the AMF (Autorités des
Marchés Financiers). It is fully-owned by its French Partners.
We specialise in growth financing and buy-outs of medium-sized companies in France and Europe; whereas the London-based Apax Partners LLP (www.apax.com) focuses on major international LBOs.
