Paris, 30 June 2010 – Apax Partners SA, “the mid-market private equity firm”, has released its 2009 annual report. It is the third edition since the firm first undertook this transparency initiative.

Excerpts:

• 20% gross portfolio return was achieved between 1 January and 31 December 2009, due to the resilience of our portfolio companies and to the increase in stock market multiples which are used to value our holdings.

• 15 build-up acquisitions were made by Apax portfolio companies in 2009.

• Total employment by portfolio companies¹ kept increasing in 2009 (up 2.6%) to reach 69,518 people (53% in France); and over twenty collective agreements were signed during the year.

• Those Apax Funds, which are fully-invested, showed top quartile performance at end-2009, benchmarked against all European private equity funds².

• Post 31 December events: the year 2010 has been very active so far, with liquidity events regarding Cegid, Faceo (not yet closed), Vedici and Vizada (not yet closed) that will generate total proceeds of over €250 million.

• At the end of March 2010, more than €500 million of firm commitments were received by Apax France VIII, which is in the process of fundraising under the leadership of Eddie Misrahi, CEO of Apax Partners MidMarket, who will succeed Maurice Tchenio, co-founder, Chairman and CEO of Apax Partners SA.
